It All Comes Down To Edwards And Stewart

There is one race left in the NASCAR Sprint Cup season.  One race left to determine who this year’s champion is.  By the end of the race at Homestead, we will know who that person is.  Currently only two drivers still have a shot at winning the title.  Current points leader Carl Edwards and two time champion Tony Stewart.  The rest have been mathematically eliminated from being able to compete for the cup, but they can still race for the win.  So who do I think will win the cup this year?  It really could be either of them.  Tony Stewart has won the Sprint Cup twice, in 2002 and 2005.  Stewart has won four races this season…all in “the Chase” all providing him with the motivation to go for it and people should make no mistake that Stewart could become a three time champion.

However, in order for Tony Stewart to accomplish this he will have to get through the current points leader Carl Edwards.  Edwards has two wins this season and it has been consistency that has kept him in the #1 rank for the majority of the season.  Edwards is one of the most consistent drivers out there.  Edwards has a three point advantage on Stewart.  All Edwards has to do is finish in front of Stewart at Homestead and he will become a NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion for the first time ever.

Just as a side note, who would have thought that Jimmie Johnson would not be a factor this year?

Should be a great race next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
