Hell is real. No matter how much we may not want to believe it.
“Why would a loving God send anyone to hell?” you might ask. “Can’t He just make us do whatever He wants or bend all the rules to let everyone in to heaven? He’s God after all and nothing is impossible for Him.”
Yes, God can do whatever He pleases, but he is also holy, which means He cannot be in the presence of sin or people who are willingly sinning. This is why He sent Jesus to save us.
Because we all need saving. Continually. When you become a Christian it does not mean that you will never sin again. Sanctification, the act of Christ continually saving you, day by day will take your entire life. We will never be fully perfect on our own. We need Christ’s righteousness. He is the only way we will get it.
All of us, even Mother Theresa deserve to be in Hell for our sins against God and others.
Why is Hell such a good thing?
Without Hell, Heaven would not be as perfect as originally intended. Hell is eternal separation from God, so that those who have been covered by Christ’s righteousness will never be tempted to sin again.
God does not want anyone to go to hell. We send ourselves there by our continual disobedience and turning away from God. You don’t know how much time you have left. We may not have tomorrow. While you have breath in your body, repent, and live lives worthy of what you are called to.
15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16
