Why Fall?

I always feel a bit down when Autumn comes around.  Summer was so full of life, then Fall shows up and everything dies.  Then Winter arrives and there’s ice, and things get worse.

Or do they?

However you feel about Fall and Winter, the leaves and snow help to set things up for the next growing season.  It’s all part of God’s ongoing creativity.

It can be the same way with our lives.  God can use situations we don’t particularly enjoy to make us more into the people He wants us to be.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

God’s love for us does not depend on how we feel or what we’re going through, and that’s really great.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:6-8 NIV
