So I thought it might be fun for us to do this again.
Back at the start of the Covid 19 pandemic. Justin stood outside Rideau Cottage just like that. He spoke about the science behind water droplets and how they travel. That’s a speech for another time. Maybe I’ll analyze that one later on if I end up enjoying this process.
Every morning I’ve woken up as prime minister. I’ve been inspired by the resilience, the generosity and the determination of Canadians. It is the driving force of every single day I have the privilege of serving in this office.
When he wasn’t serving, it didn’t matter as much.
That is why since 2015, I’ve fought for this country, for you to strengthen and grow the middle class.
Before that he had odd jobs in places.
Why we rallied to support each other through the pandemic, to advance reconciliation, to defend free trade on this continent, to stand strong with Ukraine and our democracy, and to fight climate change and get our economy ready for the future. We are at a critical moment in the world.
His original list of things he wanted to do was longer, but at least he was able to do those things. Whatever happened to Electoral Reform?
My friends, as you all know, I’m a fighter.
But not when he’s on vacation.
Every bone in my body has always told me to fight because I care deeply about Canadians, I care deeply about this country, and I will always be motivated by what is in the best interests of Canadians.
Is he going to care as much later? Time will tell.
And the fact is, despite best efforts to work through it, Parliament has been paralyzed for months after what has been the longest session of a minority parliament in Canadian history.
Is he not in charge of the whole thing? Was there more that could have been done?
That’s why this morning I advised the Governor-General that we need a new session of Parliament. She has granted this request and the House will now be prorogued until March 24th.
Parliament wasn’t doing as much work as they wanted to. Now they are going to be put in a position where they don’t do anything at all. This sure makes sense.
Over the holidays, I’ve also had a chance to reflect and have had long talks with my family about our future.
It’s good to keep everyone on the same page.
Throughout the course of my career, any success I have personally achieved has been because of their support and with their encouragement. So last night over dinner, I told my kids about the decision that I’m sharing with you today. I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister, after the party selects its next leader through a robust nationwide competitive process.
His kids aren’t involved tin the robust process though. Not til they turn eighteen.
Last night, I asked the president of the Liberal Party to begin that process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.
Hopefully they will be able to pick someone soon. Whatever you think of these guys, It’s good to have all party positions filled in the House of Commons, so that everyone knows what’s expected of them. A power vacuum at this level is not good. Especially with rumors of Canada becoming the 51st state…even if it is a joke. On the up side. Now there’s time for even more vacations.

There you have it. My first speech analysis. You may be thinking. “Oh no!” Is he going to turn this into a series with a fake book cover and everything?” I suppose I could. I’m not sure how long this series would go. We shall see. It’ll come down to if I can find more interesting speeches in which to to insert my weird commentary.
