David Reutiman To Replace Kurt Busch At Pocono

In an effort to help a fellow small team, Tommy Baldwin and James Finch worked out a deal for David Reutimann to drive the #51 Chevy for Phoenix Racing following Kurt Busch’s suspension for this weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway. Dave Blaney will pilot the #10 Chevrolet, and Tony Raines will return to the #36 Chevy for the Pocono 400 presented by #NASCAR. “I understand the position James was put in this week,” explained Tommy Baldwin. “As an owner of a small team, I wanted to help him out. We talked and thought that this lineup would be best for both of our teams.

Phoenix Racing team owner James Finch said he will meet with Kurt Busch next Tuesday to discuss the embattled driver’s future with the team. “We’re going to meet the next week and have a come-to-Jesus meeting,” Finch said Tuesday morning in an interview with SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio. At the time [Busch was hired by Finch], Finch said of the deal, “He (Busch) can’t quit and I can’t fire him.” But that may be changing. “(Kurt) needs to either get his mind right or he’s going to be working somewhere else,”

It’s hard being a Kurt Busch fan these days…especially when he does stuff like this.  Maybe he’ll learn this time.  Hopefully this doesn’t lead to another firing.
