IIWAC: PAUSE The Importance Of Family To God

From the beginning God has been putting people in families as we have seen.  He causes the baren women to eventually have children.  Impossible!  Not for Him.   In the Old Testament, oral tradition and story telling was the way God and knowledge of His goodness got passed to the next generation.  This is why giving birth to children and having a family line was seen as so good, and not having children was looked down upon.  If you had lots of kids then God obviously liked you a lot.  It’s great when God likes you.  Families were how nations were built.  The men and women who wanted to be part of God’s family were part of His nation.  The men and women who wanted no part in it would make their own nations and have many problems because they chose to not have God as their heavenly Father.

As we will see in the New Testament, family is still important for sure, but it is less about bloodlines and more about getting anyone who wants to in the House.  Jesus is the head of the Church which is His family.  In this family it doesn’t matter if you’re married or single.  If you want to be part of God’s family, there’s room for you.
