Kurt Busch Mathematically Eliminated From Cup Contention

Kurt Busch has finished 22nd at Phoenix and is officially mathematically eliminated from Sprint Cup competition for this year.  He can still race in the season finale at Homestead and win it…he just can’t win the championship mathematically speaking.  Therefore, the “Kurt Busch For The Cup” campaign is unfortunately going to have to end one race early.

Let’s take a look at the highlights of Kurt’s hard fought run for the Cup (In the event you didn’t see them)

Kurt Busch finishes a disappointing 30th at Texas, leaving him a distant 9th in points. Busch is not quite mathematically eliminated from contention yet.

Kurt Busch finishes 14th at Martinsville and continues to be 8th in the points.

After wrecking at Talladega Kurt Busch finished a d
isappointing 36th and is now 8th in points.

Kurt Busch finishes 13th at Charlotte and is now 7th in points.

Kurt Busch finishes 13th at Kansas and is now 6th in points.

Kurt Busch wins the race at Dover and moves up to 3rd in points!

After a 22nd place finish at New Hampshire, Kurt is now 9th in points

Kurt Busch finishes 6th @ Chicagoland and is now 4th in points.

Kurt Busch Qualifies 3rd for the Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Kurt Busch finishes 5th at Richmond after a wreck filled race and multiple issues with arch rival Jimmie Johnson. As far as the re-seeding goes for the chase Kurt maintains his position. All in all, a good night for the double deuce.


Kurt Busch Qualifies 11th for Richmond race. A win here would greatly help his positioning for the beginning of the chase. As of right now Kurt is 7th in points.

With a strong 4th place finish at Atlanta, Kurt Busch secures his spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup!
