Movie Review: The Passion Of The Christ

It is fitting to watch this on the Thursday before Good Friday.  I have not seen it for many years.   The other two times I watched it were a long time ago.  I never wrote down my thoughts because this spot didn’t exist yet.  I had not created it.

Let’s see what I think.

• The serpent part in the Garden of Gethsemane was interesting poetic licence.
• They got the anxiety spot on.
• I appreciate how mostly close they keep to scripture.
• I forgot this was all in Hebrew and Aramaic.  Good for subtitles.
• Judas is not a good catch.
• The beam of light streaming down next to Jesus as he is praying.
• Satan doesn’t physically show up in the Garden.
• Satan really needs to cut his fingernails.
• Cool that Jesus stomps on the snake head.  A physical answer to Genesis 3:14.So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,

  “Cursed are you above all livestock
      and all wild animals!
  You will crawl on your belly
      and you will eat dust
      all the days of your life.
  ¹⁵ And I will put enmity
      between you and the woman,
      and between your offspring^[a] and hers;
  he will crush^[b] your head,
      and you will strike his heel.”

• The Pharisees and Sanhedrin were jerks.
• The soldiers were jerks.
• Cool how they depicted healing the guy’s ear.
• Lots of gore.
• It was not a flowery time.
• Therefore it was not depicted as such.
• Jesus wins in the end.  Just like in real life.
