I haven’t written one of these in what feels like a while. These days are pivotal times in the sport. Everyone I grew up watching is retiring. This must mean that I am getting old as well. Time is going by very quickly. I’m not too old that I can’t embrace change though. I’m totally alright with double file restarts, and stage racing, which has been around for a few seasons now. There is lots to be excited about even as the familiar things change. The whole world is in a period of accellerated change this past year up til now. Why would NASCAR be any different?
Let’s get to the first thing I’m excited about.
This car! By the way the photo credit is from r/nascar. So, nobody really knows where it came from as faras copyright goes. I don’t make any money off this blog and only write here for fun. Can we call it fair use and move on with our lives? If you ever wondered what a Penske 3 would look like, here is your answer. I’m surprised they aren’t running Austin Cindric full time in it. It’s good that he’ll get a few yet to be determined starts besides the Daytona 500 in it though. He’ll just tear it up in the Xfinity series for another year again while he waits for an overdue shot at the Cup series.
Is Chase Elliott ready to take on the burden of Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans? It will be interesting to see how that all works out. As I’ve sort of mentioned earlier, there will be a lot more retirements coming up when the “old guys” like Ryan Newman, Derrike Cope (Can you believe he’s trying for another Daytona 500 start?) Kevin Harvick, and even Kurt Busch decide to eventually hang it up. I will eventually have to pick one new favourite.

More Road Courses! I am absolutely horrible at these in NASCAR Heat 5. But having six road couses on the schedule instead of two will definitely take away from the stereotype that NASCAR is all about left turns. There has always been more to it than that.

It’ll be interesting to see this thing develop. It’s been encouraging hearing about how the tests have gone so far. I read a lot about these sorts of things just for the fun of it. People are worried about where the number placement might be for the sake of sponsor exposure. I will stay out of that debate. Sort of…
Over all, it is not all doom and gloom in the NASCAR world as some might have you believe. I think next season will be abother good one. There was nothing wrong with the 2020 season. We all learned a lot as fans. The people in thei indurstry probably learned that they were capable of far more than they could originally immagine.
