Picks For The Win is back for the unofficial start of the 2012 NASCAR Season starting with the Budweiser Shootout, an exhibition race with no points on the line…but plenty of money is out there to be won.
You know how it goes by now.
No Brainers
1. #51 Kurt Busch Busch is the defending winner of the Budweiser Shootout, and his new smaller team runs with Hendrick power…so as long as he doesn’t get wrecked by Tony Stewart or someone…he should be just fine.
2. #48 Jimmie Johnson Johnson needs a win desperately to prove to his fans he’s not washed up. Last year was the first year he had EVER finished outside the top 5 in points. Johnson will try to get a win for the sake of relevance. (For the record there are 42 other guys trying to do the same thing week in and week out.)
3. #29 Kevin Harvick He has a habit of ruining a good party for whoever is in front in the closing laps of a major race.
Guys To Watch
1. #56 Martin Truex Jr. He drew that pole spot at the draw party they had the day before…but how long will he stay up there?
2. #22 A.J. Almendinger Can he keep up with the #22’s record of being good at Daytona in Feburary?
3. #34 David Ragan He won the last night race at Daytona…Could he do it again? OR Will he fade to the back?
