Ted and Nicole entered their new spacious home arm in arm. It had benn a long, but successful day at work. Together they worked at a law firm. At one point in time, Ted was an intern, and Nicole was the big boss. Now they were partners, but Nicole would always be in charge. Not only were they partners at work, but a romance had sparked between the two. Marriage happened. The house came after that. Ted was living the dream. To go from homeless to having it all together in such a short period of time was almost unheard of. However, it had given others in Ted’s previous situation hope that things could be better for them as well. Ted took additional pride in being able to inspire others in that way as well.
Nicole was a strong, independent woman. Yet she found herself married, happily even, to Ted She had become the best lawyer she could be and obviously was a leader in her field who all sorts of people looked up to. At home she and Ted enjoyed a quiet life away from the bustle in an unassuming suburb. Ted needed out of the city, and so did Nicole.
This evening was spent watching re runs of M*A*S*H* and feeling glad that their collective lives were not as complicated as those depicted on that sit com. Nicole made popcorn for the two of them and they watched as many episodes as they could fit in.
Not bad for a Tuesday night. These two were living the dream. It may not be everyone’s dream, but it was theirs, and theirs to share.
Bed time approached and the two retired to their master suite. Snuggled together, in their king sized bed that they didn’t even use most of, Nicole began to talk business.
“Ted, It’s time we had at least one heir for our law empire.” She said.
“Oh really,” replied Ted.
“Yes. Time is shorter than you think it is.” Nicole exclaimed. “I can’t do this by myself.”
“I wouldn’t want to miss out on this creative process.” Ted smirked and turned out the light.
Somewhere in the darkness the deed was attempted. It would not become official until later. Other than that, there is nothing more that we need to know about when or how. Just that from this moment on, Ted and Nicole’s lives were going to be changed forever.
