I haven’t been following this, because all the legal jargon bores me. I have no experience with law. I spend my time trying not to get into trouble.

What I do understand is that going from an a charter team to an open team is not a sign of progress. You lose a lot of money. NASCAR hasn’t been able to get a full field most weeks because it’s not worth it enough for the open teams to make the trip when they know they are second class citizens of racing. Maybe third class. Gibbs is not going to want to help them out with information anymore, I suspect there will be a drop in performance.Sponsors want a guaranteed spot. I can see the appeal from that end. If NASCAR can eat up a championship contending team just like that, will it turn into a last team standing sort of thing. I wish there had been a better way to get through this other than this “never choose sides against the family” sort of thing. More financially healthy teams is good for the long term health of the sport. Does NASCAR really have six buyers all lined up with brand new teams ready to compete? I don’t understand the point of all of this.
