In one of my courses in senior year of University at the “small” Christian school I attended, we were learning about different world views. This course happened for three hours every Monday night for the entire semester. The highlights were my one hour presentation on Utilitarianism including a funny Charlie Chapman video. But that’s not the purpose of this tale. One of our major group projects involved making a presentation on a religion other than Christianity, including visiting their place of worship and interviewing people who were there and happy to be interviewed by us. My group went to the local mosque. We had to take our shoes off when we got there. No problems there. While we were there the leader of that mosque and congregation said that we had shown up on a very special day in that their would be a wedding. The folks who were there for it were happy to have us watch too. We didn’t even get an invitation in the mail. The leader of the mosque made sure the groom stayed next to him so he wouldn’t chicken out marrying his fiancee. They did get married, and everyone was happy. It was an unexpected bonus to make our project stand out amongst the rest. I wonder if Jesus felt the same at the wedding where He changed water into wine? That wouldn’t have been a Christian wedding either.
