AI is well on the way to being ubiquitious as cell phones are in our lives. I’ve been trying to keep up with it all. It’s definitely not a perfect replica of human productivity, but we are getting to the point where near enough is good enough. We can get AI to handle creative writing and design processes. Spreadsheets. We can even get it to make music for us so we don’t have to go through the process of thinking about it ourselves. You want an event poster? Type in a prompt. It’s there for you. Your meeting is too boring? Relax, you can use AI to take notes for you while you snooze your way through. Need to write something compelling. Just summon the all powerful oracle that is Chat GPT. It wil say what you want, but allegidly better. Struggling to write a book? Let AI do it for you and then sell that thing the next day. I think you get the point. Whatever we want to do in life, there is an AI that can probably do it better. Are we done with human contribution to life? Will we ever get to a point where AI can live our lives for us through some sort of “perfect” hologram versions of ourselves that never go out of line and always say exactly the right thing? Maybe perfect is not the word. What if near enough is good enough? What if that sort of situation improved things? What if AI could turn me from a boring person into the talk your ear off sort that my friends have always wished for? It’s probably still worth it to be a regular human. At least, for now.
