TTD Chapter 1: A New Home

Ted woke up to find himself on a cold, icy floor of a cavernous room.  The room was well lit from an obscure external source which Ted could not accurately discern.  This was a strange place.  However, it was peaceful, Ted certainly enjoyed that.  It had been a long time since Ted had experienced peace.  He had been thrown out of his apartment and had the unfortunate experience of watching his land lord burn his things right in front of him.  Having to start over left Ted jobless and subsequently  homeless.

Ted met Allison on a lonely park bench.  Allison saved his life that night.  She introduced him to her tent community.  She saved his life that day.  While not initially well liked by everyone, Ted would earn his keep in the community by convincing everyone to go to the local court house and change their lives for the better.  Through the generosity of real humans, the tents were replaced by tiny homes.

Ted loved his new tiny house.  It was no tiny thing to him.  He loved how he was steps away from anything he could possibly need.  He loved his loft bed.  Mostly because it was a double.  It was the first time in his life that Ted had ever had a double bed.  It was nice to stretch out.  His cooking improved.  It was nice to walk around the community and see everyone equally happy with their new homes.  With the mortgage paid off by the generous humans that built their homes, Ted, and the rest of the community were free from that particular burden in life.

Ted used his new found peace of mind to obtain a steady job as an assistant to a lawyer.  It wasn’t glamorous, but it made sense for Ted’s new found goal of becoming a lawyer himself.  A respectable thing to have on any resume.

Ted found himself on a traditional evening walk around the community.  Seeing Lawon up ahead of him, he slapped him on the back.

“Great night for a walk.”  Ted said.

“Indeed.”  Lawson replied, before entering his own tiny home, as he was finished with his own walk.

Ted continued on.  He spied Allison’s house around the corner. It would be nice to catch up with her.  He had burning questions which had been rolling around in his head for months.  He knocked on the door.  Ted heard the rustle of feet.  The door opened.

“Hello Ted.  Would you like to come in?  Allison asked.

Ted stepped through the doorway and closed the door behind him.
