I thought when he left the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2007 that it would be the end for Ward Burton. As it turns out, it’s not. The only reason he left was to help his son’s racing career and work with his wildlife foundation.
According to www.jayski.com Ward will be running a #27 truck, obviously in the Camping World Truck Series along with his son Jeb Burton (they will share the ride). Jeb needs Ward to run Daytona because he is apparently not qualified to do it himself. Ward will also get to make a few other random starts throughout the season as the “dynamic duo” work together to get the #27 truck the best possible owners points position within their ability.
Should be interesting to see how they do.
