Christmas Without Relatives

I was excited this morning when I remembered that my Grandpa was coming over today to spend some time with us before Christmas.  He makes his rounds amongst his kids spending a few days with each of them over the Christmas holidays.  I thought this was going to be really cool (and it will be) and then I thought that it would only be a matter of time before my other grandparents show up and we all have a good time…

…Then I remembered that the rest of them had already passed away, and that was a sad moment.

Fortunately, Christmas is more than spending time with family.  It’s more than the meal, It’s more than the presents.  Christmas is all about the greatest gift ever given.  That gift was God’s son Jesus Christ who was sent to earth to eventually die for our sins on a cross and be raised from death, thus conquering death and allowing us to have a harmonious relationship with God in spite of our sin if we so choose.
