Do Not Commit Adultery

14 “You shall not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14)

This is the one nobody pays attention to…at all.  It’s a shame because if people did then many families would still be together.  As life goes on, people find little reasons to get bored of their marriage and go out and have sex with someone else.  Someone who is not committed to them and someone they are not committed to…because apparently this person is more attractive.  If you are sexually aroused by someone else and you act on it, you are violating a covenant you made between you, your wife, and God.  God isn’t a huge fan of his covenants being broken.  He loves you like mad, but he doesn’t like it when you do that.

Jesus took it one step farther in Matthew 5:28.  He said “if anyone looks at a woman and lusts after her, he has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

This is not to say that you can’t look at a woman and notice that she’s attractive….otherwise guys would never get to see women at all.  Lust occurs after you allow the thought of having sex with her to consume your mind.  You can notice that she looks good and move on.

Pornography has capitalized on the fact that men notice that women are attractive and has subsequently caused another possibility for marital and money problems in families.  God did not intend for women to be used this way.

Sex, believe it or not, is a good thing when it is practiced within the covenant of marriage between a man and his wife.  Anything outside of that makes it not as good.  You get bored with your wife so you figure you’ll go have sex with someone else…but what you don’t know about your life right now is in two months you’ll be bored of her, then you’ll start seeing someone else and do that cycle over and over again until eventually you catch Aids or some other STD.

If you limit your sexual endeavors to your wife and your wife alone then you also pretty much eliminate the possibility of getting an STD  (These are apparently painful things from what I’ve read about them).   God didn’t want us to have to deal with Sexually Transmitted Diseases.  He also wants to keep our families together so your entire family can grow and learn more about God, instead of having to deal with divorce proceedings and what kids are going to go with which parent.

Not committing Adultery saves a person from a lot of unnecessary hardships in life.

Adultery may look fun, but it will wreck you more quickly than you may realize.
