Here’s the first cross-over. Helio Castroneves is in a NASCAR Cup car for the 2025 Daytona 500. It’s just this race. He’s doing it with Track House Racing in their part time #91 car. He’s done everything you can in Indycar Racing. I never thought he’d come over here, especially with no experience in these kinds of stock cars. He is still a good race car driver, and I want him to do well. He has a good enough car that he could be a contender. There are many questions that can’t be answered until he’s actually in the situation. I feel like NASCAR making a special 41st spot for him to make the field no matter what is a slap in the face to his racing abilities. His Racing Reference page speaks for itself. Hopefully HC can make it in respectably on speed so he doesn’t have to use that extra spot. How will he handle cars bouncing off him and still being able to continue on without necessarily being launched straight up in the air. Maybe he’ll like the contact aspect. We shall see. One thing is for sure, It’ll be fun watching him figure it all out.
Here’s the second one. Kurt Busch has been cleared to race alongside Travis Pastrana in the Race of Champions in Sydney, Australia. The event is in March. I’ve never seen how it works so I don’t know much about it, but a Kurt Busch comeback, even if it’s not all the way to Cup is pretty cool after everything he’s been through lately. For the sake of fun, you can check out his Racing Reference page too. Kurt had a pretty bad concussion back in 2022. He even said he wouldn’t be racing again. Now he’s racing again. This is pretty cool.
