Ted 3 Chapter 2: The Possibilities

Ted and Nicole sat across a small table eating breakfast.

“Soon we will have to put another leaf in this table…permanently.”  Nicole said.

“What do you mean?” Ted asked.  He was still lethargic from last nights proceedings.  He wasn’t cluing in at all.

“In less than a year, you will most likely be a father.”  Nicole stated.

Then reality hit him.  Ted drifted off into thought.  Did he really have what it took to be a father?

Provision for the child would not be a problem.  He and Nicole had steady jobs as long as they wanted them.  Ted was not atheletic in the slightest, so someone else would have to teach the kid about those things.  Maybe Nicole.  Ted hoped the child didn’t grow up to resent him.  That would just be terrible and no way to live.

Suddenly the phone rang, jolting Ted back to reality.   Ted put the phone on speaker.

“Hey, It’s Lawson.  Alison and I would like to get together with you and Nicole tonight for supper at our place, if you’re up for it.  It would be great to catch up.”

“Actually we have exciting news too.  This sounds like a plan.”   Ted and Nicole said in unison.  Literally word for word the whole sentence.  This took finishing eachother’s sentences to a whole new level.

The time was set.  There was something to look forward to after another work day.  It would be great to catch up with people who at this point felt like old friends.
