“I wish we could be like the big Churches!”
“Screens seem like so much fun!”
“Why do we struggle so much?”
“We don’t have this or that. It seems like we could do ministry better with this or that.”
“All the other Churches are more popular than us.”
Screens are nice, but it’s not the point. Do you really want the challenge of changing the bulb when it eventually goes out. Things seem great at first until there’s every human problems.
Maybe God has you right where you are so you can relate to the other people around you without using gimmicks. You still have a community around you who loves Jesus. Isn’t that the main thing? Jesus started with 12 disciples and changed the whole world. Even if your Church is that small there are still people there, and they have friends who they can relate to and tell about Jesus.
Who cares if your ministry looks different from the other Churches you think about all the time.
Inner city folks are going to be reached in different ways than miners or farmers. The Lord builds His Churches in all sorts of different places with all sorts of different people so they can be lights to the community around them.
Whether your Church is “popular” or not, ministry takes teamwork no matter what. You can still do that no matter the size of your Church. The Body of Christ works best when all the parts He’s put together are working together and not trying to compare themselves to others.
No Church is too small to do what God wants them to do in the context He’s placed them in.
I’m not saying anything earth shattering or new here. It just seems like some people need reminders.
You may not have everything you think you want. Everyone has something to bring to the table. Hang in there.
