W1 Chapter 1: Mr. Metro

The subway was all Kory knew since becoming an adult.  He even had the last name for it, Metro.  Kory was responsible all of the customer service needs at his stop of the subway.  He processed their electronic payments, and for the old fashioned people who actually liked talking, he issued subway tokens.  For the people who seemed to enjoy yelling, it was Kory who would field their complaints.  It was the job he had gotten right out of high school.  It was a job he was good at.  He had never given his employers any reason to complain about his work ethic.  Every day, the same reliable routine.  Get up, eat breakfast, walk the few blocks to the subway station, work, eat lunch, work some more, go home to his simple apartment.  Time passed without having to pay any attention.  It was raining this particular morning, Kory did not notice when in the midst of a transaction for a subway token, a hooded figure slipped him a small business card after asking him, “do you ever think life can be better?”  Kory nodded in agreement and the figure slipped away onto a waiting subway car. Kury stared down at it from his perch in the booth.

That had to be the longest most convoluted phone number Kory had ever seen.  He always enjoyed picking up evening hobbies.  Kory decided he would call it for fun when he got home.  He wondered what sort of better life could come from this business card.  Thinking about that sure made the day pass faster.  Kory knew one thing.  If he was still thinking about it by the time supper rolled around, he was definitely going to get to the bottom of it.
