He became stiff-necked and hardened his heart and would not turn to the Lord, the God of Israel. 14 Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful, following all the detestable practices of the nations and defiling the temple of the Lord, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.
It’s a bad bad scene.

His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. 19 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. 20 It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence.

It’s right at this point where 2 Chronicles, 2 Kings, and Jeremiah come together. However, at this point we must introduce Habakkuk. He was a prophet in the same time as Jeremiah. We can’t just skip him and what the Lord has to say through him. Then we will get back to “The Big Three.”
