Demand For Space in Schools
NDP School infrastructure is failing. Push for transparency, but don’t get it. Clear capital plan. School Boards. Liberals got rid of schoolboards
Liberals blame it on the rising population. $3,000 back to households. Doubling Seniors care grant. Again.
Conservatives will support educators, families, and students. Government will support teachers like they have been. Investing in education, not cutting.
Liberals go back and say that they didn’t cut Education when Zack was Education Minister. He talked about Childcare spaces and access to more of it.
PCs opened up 4,000 spaces for that. Listened to teachers.
NDP Violence in schools is there. Educators are not happy. Not enough teachers and staff to support children with complex needs. Hire the teachers, inclusive education act. Resources in classrooms.
Liberals More support all around. We need supports.
Power Bills
NDP doesn’t have answers except for a payment plan. Universal service plan. Make sure people have help with their bill. Transition to clean energy. Implement forgiveness program for heat.
Liberals notice that people are sturggling. Lower power bills increase wind energy that is already there.
How do you cap rates?
PCs will continue to stand up against the Carbon Tax. Better than a Carbon Tax. The voices of action.

Healthcare
Liberals say that healthcare is worse. Wait times, emergency, doctors. 40 new clinics. Taking tax off thing
Conservatives inherited a mess. They looked the other way and it’s taken time. Progress is happening 250 more doctors. More coming. 2000 more nurses than before. Patient access to care is making a difference. 1,000,000 new. Still a work in progress.
NDP thinks about primary care. Focus is on the folks who are waiting really long times in ERs. Appointments are not attached to primary care. 15 new Doctor clinics. Collaborative care emergency centers.
Liberals said that it went from 60,000 to 100,000 people. Getting worse and worse. Don’t give up on the clinics.
PCs opened 75 clinics. Recruiting Doctors from other countries in a 12 week period. 45-50 family doctors. Not overnight solutions. Attached 20,000 people October 15,000 people.
Liberals say politics is governing healthcare. More mice than staff in the VG. Want to work on early diagnosing.
NDP says the numbers are all wrong. Not attaching people to primary care.
PC 250 doctors. More work to be done.
Mental Health
Liberals would invest in addiction hubs.
PCs created a minister for addictions and mental health. Universal Mental Health is still a commitment. In progress still. 4 Mental Health Hospitals 10 Recovery places. Be there when they need it. Benefits of the app. Opens up access. More mental health professionals. More work to be done.
NDP Life is hard right now. Apps don’t help as much as people. Resources that help. Emergency response with police if needed. More clinicians and Doctors.
Liberals what to tackle depression. Creating sense of hopelessness.
Population Growth
PCs concerned about population growth. Immigration cracking down on asylum seekers. We can’t do it.
NDP Nova Scotia was built by imigrants. 1% vacancy. Build as we grow. Underfunded students and agriculture. Not enough housing and healthcare. Recruiting healthcare people from refugee camps. Work on infrastructure.
Liberals Invest in Telephone towers, twinning highways, new homes. Bring back tolls on bridges.
NDP would work on transit to make it better. Lots of one person cars on the bridge.
Conservatives want to give time in your car back to you. Feasibility study on rail and high speed ferry. Connector roads.
Liberals want to invest in a new bridge in Halifax. Twinned highways everywhere. Free public transit.
NDP drives everywhere, in spite of free bus passes. Transit system that works somehow. Invest in transit in rural and urban.
PCs created Joint Transportation Authority. How to move people around quicker. When all the busses are half hour late, it doesn’t work.
NDP More busses mean less cars, less traffic.
Liberals Free public transit $5,000 back in your pocket.
Retaining International Graduates
PCs Immigration is on skilled trades and healthcare.
Liberals Affordable housing and coops. If they can’t live here, they can’t stay.
NDP address student housing. Not just dorms.
Climate
NDP would proclaim the coastal protection act. Everyone agreed at the time. Enjoy coastlines.
Liberals would proclaim it. PCs also liked it. Reduce emissions.
PCs Climate is changing. Nova Scotia Guard. Better prepared. Coastal Protection Act. Never got proclaimed by any party even though everyone agreed. Inaction is not good. Work with everyone on erosion and flooding. Support municipalities.
NDP Mayors are doing it all themselves.
Liberals Regulations were being developed and it would have been proclaimed. Developing areas in floods. Protect tax payers from liabilities.
Isthmus
PCs want the Federal Government to pay for it. They only want to do half. Shovels in the ground.
Liberals This could have happened years ago.$325,000,000 from Feds for this. NS and NB should split it and get it done.
NDP wants us to not be an island. Wants 100% of funding from Feds but wants to do the work in the meantime.
PCs want NS to be treated fairly by the Federal Government. The work is happening. It’s massive.
When is it OK to break a promise?
PCs Events and new info overtake you. All the things we promise we think we can do as long as NS is taken care of.
Liberals believe they won’t break promises. It’s not right to break contract. Zack won’t run again if he can’t deliver on promises.
NDP Didn’t address breaking promises.
