Kory arrived at WRAITH just on time for his special appointment. He had no idea what to expect. He didn’t even know that this situation could be completely embarassing. Working in the subway all those years had not allowed him the pick of the litter amongst women. He was used to minding his own business. The only good thing was that the suit he picked for this affair was light weight and breathable.
Kory entered the atrium. This time, nobody was milling about. The only lights came from well placed candles. A lone woman was sitting at a round table. Kory did think she was attractive in her black dress, but he would soon find out she was all business. Business business. Not the fun kind.
Kory pulled up the chair across from her and smiled. This was the first time he had ever looked at a woman straight in the eyes before. He thought this experience was nice. Until she scowled at him, and opened her mouth.
“Listen here, loser, I’m only in this for the pay cheque your company is giving me. Don’t you dare get any ideas of falling in love or being together. It’s not going to happen,” The woman said angrily. “My anger protects me. Don’t you forget that. To make this short as possible I’m going to explain everything as simply as possible.”
“Understood.” Kory replied.
What followed was more of a monologue than an actual date. She wasn’t kidding when she said she was going to be fast.
“If you’re taking notes make bullet points. It starts now.
- Look fleetingly, but don’t stare. Eye contact is overrated these days.
- Don’t you dare stare at her breasts ever. They are for her, not for you.
- Pretend you’re talking to a friend. Keep it easy.
- Don’t bring up sex ever. We are past that as a society. It’s her body, not yours.
- Compliment her accomplishments and actual value items.
- Don’t even mention her appearance.
- Pay for everything. Even if she asks you out. Just being a woman is a cross enough in this world.
- Walk her to her car. Do not get in. Do not rape her along the way.
That’s basically everything, slob. Any questions.” The woman said confidently.
She took Kory’s silence as a no and abruptly left the building. It was the fastest money she had made from an organization ever.
Kory sat there dumbfounded. He thought she was fixated on things he was certainly not going to bring up. Falling in love with the villain wouldn’t make any sense. He was glad that he hadn’t decided to try to date his trainer. He left the session, returning home, having not learned much of anything. Except perhaps, that the lady had a chip on her shoulder.
